Derron’s work experience 2
The experience of working here since the last blog post has been both similar and different in many ways. To start, there has been an increase in freedom as Claire has gotten to know us more, and vice versa. We have been working on individual programs and projects. During this week, we are joined by 2 students who are doing work placement here as well.
It has become a very familial work environment where everyone is genuinely friendly. While the work environment is great, there have been times when I had to work from home, and Claire has been very accommodating. The only issue is not transferring my data from one drive to another, which is my own fault. Even then, Claire has just given me a different task to accomplish.
The travel to and from work has been quite enjoyable. The view of the countryside from the train is always delightful, and even the surroundings of Romiley during breaks are a good way to decompress after an extensive coding task.
Taking on the project manager role of the group is helpful as I know everyone extensively and can play and plan to their strengths and weaknesses. However, this doesn’t mean I don’t take on my share of the coding projects. Usually, I assign and plan what’s going on with different forms of planning tools such as Monday, Google Drive, and Discord.
